Samuel Micheal Kearse

September 10, 1963 ~ October 20, 2021 (age 58)


Samuel Micheal Kearse was born September 10, 1963  in Denmark, South Carolina to the late Eula Mae Kearse Jenning and the late Johnny Floyd. 

Samuel was educated in the Orangeburg public school system. He relocated to the state of New York in his early adulthood.

Early in his life, Sam worked several jobs including working for the city of New York in the homeless shelter system where he counseled and aided those in need. He dedicated himself to this position for twenty years. He then relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he resided with his wife, Mary Kearse of twenty-six years. He worked in the hospitals as a floor technician. Later he returned to South Carolina to be with family and his wife of the past twenty six years. 

A few things that Sam enjoyed doing was playing football. He played semi pro football as a nose guard. He loved to watch football. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He also loved fishing, grilling, and family gatherings. 
In addition to his parents, Sam was also preceded in death by a son, Kelvin Butler, two brothers, Melvin Kearse, and Julius Jenning and father-in-law, Sampson Butler.

Sam departed his life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife of twenty-six years, Mary Butler Kearse of Sumter, SC, nine daughters, Kelly Moton of Greensboro, NC, Taniqua Bolden, Natasha Bolden, Satin Gaston, all of Brooklyn, NY, Neffateria Scott of Houston, TX, Kimberly Malone of Atlanta, GA, Janice Haggwood of Columbia, SC and Takela Butler of Sumter, SC; seven sons, Darnell Foy of Scottsboro, AL, Shykeen Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Samuel Scott of Albany, NY, Melvin Kearse of Brooklyn, NY, Micheal Haggwood and Jerome Haggwood of Columbia, SC and Calvin Butler of Sumter, SC; nine siblings, Maggie (Carl) Chester of Hopewell, VA, Eartha Wilson of Sumter, SC, Mary Hunter, Aleah Jenning, and Debra Floyd of Palatka, FL, Judy Kearse of Jacksonville, FL, Ann Robertson of  Fullerton, CA, Seal Jenning of Jacksonville, FL, and Robert Jenning of Interlachen, FL; two brothers-in-laws, James Butler and Derrick Butler;  thirty-six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
