Mrs. Rosetta Hickman James was born on December 24, 1947 in Florence, SC to the late Willie Hickman and Carrie Bell Hickman.

Rosetta attended the public school of Lee County.

She was a faithful member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church in Lynchburg, SC with Senior Pastor Reverend Dr. Sammie D. Simmons. She served on the Usher Board, Youth Sunday School Teacher and President of the Young Adult Choir faithfully. Sister Rosetta James was an Inspiration to all of Bethesda with both the old and the young. She always had a positive WORD of Encouragement of Faith for everyone she encounter with family most, church family and friends she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew James, her grandparents, Rosa Lee Andrews-White, twins’ brother/sister, Kenneth and Karen Hickman, two sons, Willie Ray Hickman and Everette Terrell Thomas, a grandson, King Davis; a step-daughter, Pearline Thomas and a step-son-in-law, Bobby Long.

She departed her earthly life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in Sumter.

She leaves to cherish her memories; a son, Derek Hickman; a daughter, Selena T. Rogers; three grandchildren, Tarnissaya S. Choice, Taja R. Thomas and Tanidra Hilton-Thomas; four great-grandchildren; Tristen Thomas, Brayden Charles, Kameron and Ka’mia Charles all of Florence, SC; a brother, Robert Edward Hickman of Lynchburg, SC; four sisters, Phyllis “LoLo” Clark of St. Charles, SC, Carrie D. (Tim) Curry of Lancaster, SC, Cynthia (Ollie) Johnson of Greensboro, NC and Kereatha H. Evans of Sumter, SC; two step-daughters, Clara (Isaiah) Brown of Lake City, SC and Geraldine Long; a step-son-in-law, Micheal Thomas of Florence, SC; a special cousin, Alfred McDonald of Lynchburg, SC; The Durant, and The McKnight Families; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
