Mrs. Ronetta Hastie Bracey was born in Sumter South Carolina on August 5, 1943. She was the second oldest daughter of the late Eugene Hastie Sr. and Theola Amos Hastie. She was the widow of the late Shaw Bracey.
“Mama Netta” as she was affectionately called was reared in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her personal savior in her youth and joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist church in Sumter South Carolina. While worshipping at New Bethel, she was a member of the YWA Association, Senior Missionary Ministry, a faithful member of the church school and a devoted President of the Senior Usher Board for 13 years. Ronetta received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed at V.B. Williams until they closed, with Sumter Laundry and Cleaners for over 40 years and she was employed with Sumter School District for a short period of time until her health started to decline.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the quiet hour of 2:30 a m, Ronetta answered the call of her name from our heavenly father and slipped peacefully into eternal rest.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Shaw Bracey, her parents Eugene Hastie, Sr. and Theola Hastie; four sisters, Inez Hastie, Joan Hastie Johnson, Sudie Jane Bracey, and Windolyn Hastie; two brothers in-law, Edward Paul Bracey, and Johnnie Lee Rose Sr. And Norman Bradley.
Those who remain to cherish her memories and to be inspired by her life and her will to live are her four children; Shaw (Eartha) Bracey, Paula (Tommy) Robinson of Sumter South Carolina, Kevin (Rosaleen) Bracey of Atlanta Georgia, Janika Bracey of Sumter South Carolina. And two sons in love Steve Bradley of Sumter South Carolina and Paul (Sheila) Bradley of Sumter South Carolina; five sisters, Willie Mae Clea, Janet(Raymond) Sharper, Georgia Rose, Barbara (Travis) Pearson, all of Sumter South Carolina and Lucille (Rev. Robert) Gibson of Manning, South Carolina; three brothers, Eugene (Retta) Hastie, Robert (Jo Carol) Hastie and Kennedy (Lillian) Hastie of Sumter South Carolina; one aunt, Catherine Green of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two grandchildren, Keaun Bracey and Amya Sanders who resided in the home; a sister-in-law, Sophie (Jeremiah) Ealey of Sumter, SC; an outstanding host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
