Robert Hammett departed this life on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his home in Las Vegas, NV.

Born in Lee County, he was the son of the late Albert and Doshia Hammett. He attended the public schools of Lee County. During his tenure in the U.S. Air Force, he attended Noncommissioned officer Leadership school and Supervisor’s Development Course.

Robert was a 21-year veteran of the United States Air Force. A combatant of Operations Desert Shield/Storm. A recipient of numerous military awards, decorations, and citations. He was employed by the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel and Casino as a security analyst. A math wizard and truly all-around good guy who encouraged his family to visit by proclaiming in his quiet deadpan style that "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”. As you can imagine the visits were always lots of fun. We will miss his sense of humor, his afro that he refused to let go out of style, and his faithful Sunday afternoon telephone calls to all his siblings.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his brothers, James Hammett, Bishopville, SC, Albert (Margaret) Hammett, Bishopville, SC, Curtis (Patricia) Hammett, Sumter, SC, Billy Hammett, Rock Hill, SC, and Bernard (Ann) Hammett, Columbia, SC; his sisters Catherine (Lionel) Pack, Gable, SC, Rosa H. Brunson, Bishopville, SC, Bertha (Levi) Scarborough, Smyrna, GA, and Octavia Benjamin, Florence, SC; Special friends of his hometown of Las Vegas, NV: Life Partner, Rosalia Joseph, and her sons, Patrick Joseph, Matthew (Rosilyn) Joseph and Toni Joseph. Very close friends, Howard Finister, Rosamarie Lohf, Randall Majors, Trina Mason, Bernard Powell, Loretta, JuJu, and Roy and Rori Simms.  A host of Nieces and Nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Hammett, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8, KJV
