Mr. Richard Amos Ross, affectionately known as “Rich” or “Hood” was born September 10, 1982 in the Bronx, New York to Robert L and Gloria McMillian Ross Sr.
In his early years, he attended Park West High School. Rich was a member of Upper Room Pentecostal Faith Holiness Church with Pastor Lillie Mae Bookman along with his family.
Rich was talented and was interested in quite a few things. He was trained in boxing, an avid football fan and loved to lift weights. He was a great cook and could be found running the grill. He had a gift with music like his big brother.
You could always expect to have a good laugh with Rich. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Johnny Lee Ross, maternal grandfather, Ernest McMillan, maternal grandmother, Ernestine Holmes McMillan; aunt, Deborah Wright; uncle, Cyril McMillan; niece, Heaven Leeah Ross and cousin, Sharon “Face” Hughes.
Richard departed this life on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Richard is survived by five sons, Nazir Ross, Keyshawn Ross, Naeem Ross, Malik Ross, Marcus Ross; one daughter, Nia Ross all of the Bronx NY; his parents, Robert L. and Gloria Ross Sr. of Sumter SC; two brothers Robert (Melanie) Ross Jr. and Aaron Ross both of Sumter SC; three sisters, Richelle Ross of Charlotte NC, Rachel (David) Barnes of Sumter SC, and Gabrielle (TraViontae) Harvey of Columbia SC; grandmother, Katherine Ross of the Bronx NY: three nephews, Elijah Ross, Luke Barnes, and TraViontae Harvey Jr; two nieces, Eden Barnes and Taleigha Harvey and a host of other relatives and friends.
