Phillip Terry Jones entered this world on July 11, 1955, in Sumter, SC as the son of the late Carroll Nelson Gist and Sarah Ham.

Phillip attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp. Phillip worked as a licensed plumber in Sumter county for over 25 years. He was an active member of the Sumter Active Day Care on Oswego Road for 19 years.

Phillip was a member of Union Station A.M.E. church until his passing.

In addition to his father, Philip was preceded in death by his brother James Willie “Milkbone” Jones and his aunt Carry Jones.

He departed this earthly life on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his home in Sumter.

Phillip leaves to cherish his loving memories with his mother, Sarah Ham of the home; a sister Gwendolyn Sweat also of the home; a son, Nathaniel Dukes of Charlotte, NC, two daughters, Marilyn Moore of Sumter, SC and Shanita Jones York of Columbia, SC; a brother, John Day of Sumter, SC; a sister, Michelle M. Leaf of Sumter, SC; five grandchildren, Kirsten Pia Strong, Nathaniel Dukes, Jr., Kenisha Moore, Steven Moore, and Lauren Moore; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
