Lishead Sweat

February 12, 1943 ~ February 7, 2021 (age 77)

Obituary

Mr. Lishead (Tommy) Sweat, son, of the late Wheeler Sweat Sr. and Sarah Whack Sweat, was born on February 12, 1943 in Manning, South Carolina.

He received his formal education in Sumter County and attended Lincoln High School. He later attended Sumter Technical College and majored in Automotive Mechanics with a specialty in small engines. He was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church.

He was employed by Towne and Country Mobile Home Incorporated and Capital Mobile Home for many years. He later worked as a self-employed Plumber and was gifted in maintenance work. In his community he was known as the man who could fix anything. He worked until a decline in his health.

He was a good-hearted person, tried to help those who were in need, and was a joy to his friends and family. He will forever be remembered for his kindness.  He was like a father to his nieces and nephews and he gave up his residence and moved in to care for his mother Mrs. Sarah Whack Sweat.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Levy Sweat; and four sisters; Joyce Busby, Thelma Billups, Jeanette Lesane, and Gladys Lemon.

He departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory a son, Anthony Hilton; a sister, Minister Annette Sweat Robinson; a brother, Deacon Wheeler Sweat Jr.; a special friend, Ms. Ruth Alston and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
