Hattie Mae Holliday, daughter of the late Gennie Thames and Bessie Pugh Thames, was born on October 15, 1942 in Manning, SC.
She received her formal education from Manning High school and later in life attended classes to achieve a certificate to become a Home Health Aide.
In 1962, she married her husband, Clyde Holliday, Jr and bore nine children. She and her husband moved to Paterson, NJ in 1964, where they raised their family.
Hattie loved life and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. But most of all, she loved her family. She always put her family first. She showed love with family dinners and gatherings, warm hugs, and lots of laughter. She always had time to listen to problems and help find solutions.
She will be remembered most for her sense of humor and her strong will. She kept everyone around her laughing. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was used to getting her way and if strong encouragement did not work, her charm would.
Hattie departed this life on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her home in Sumter, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony B. Holliday and Kenneth L. Holliday, five brothers, Charles, Willie, Gennie, Jr., Jacob, and Esaw and two sisters, Bessie Walters and Annie Lee Thames.
