God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Mr. David Earl Alston home from his life of labor and love into eternal rest on Sunday, May 09, 2021. He was born in Sumter, South Carolina, on July 07, 1969. He is the son of Lillie D. McLaurin and the late Robert Alston, Jr.

David graduated from Hillcrest High School located in Dalzell, SC with the Class of 1987. During his junior year of high school, he enlisted into the United States Army Reserves. Once he graduated, his military status was changed to active-duty, where he served for eleven years. He excelled over the years to become Sargent Alston, where he did numerous tours as he served. While in the military, David attended several colleges. To name a few, he graduated from Central Texas College, Killen, TX (Ft. Hood) with an Associate’s degree in 1998. He received his Industrial Maintenance certification from Central Carolina Technical College, Sumter, South Carolina in August 2004.  Lastly, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Morris College, Sumter, SC in May 2017 where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Christian Education. David worked for Eaton Corporation in Sumter, SC, for fourteen years.

David confessed his life to Christ and became a member of his home church, Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in January 2002. In addition, he served as a member of the usher board.

David volunteered with Habitat for Humanity through his former employer Eaton Corporation. He also volunteered his services to Disaster Relief with the Baptist Association in Sumter County.

David enjoyed sports (especially football), making jokes, and making people smile.  David had a humble spirit and a giving heart.  He didn’t mind helping anyone in need, and for that, he will be greatly missed.
