With deep love and heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of a man who truly lived with passion and purpose.
Yakuba Musad Scott was born on December 31, 1975, in New York, New York to the late Gladys Oliver and the late John H. Scott.
Yakuba was raised in Sumter, South Carolina by his grandmother, Dora Mitchell-Oliver. Yakuba was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. He worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime.
Yakuba was a person whose zeal for life could be felt by everyone that knew him. He embraced each day with energy, laughter, and a spirit that made even the smallest moments seem meaningful. Above all, he was a devoted father, and his children were the center of his world. He took pride in being present in their lives, supporting them, and sharing in their joys. His love will continue to live on through them.
Yakuba shared a special and unbreakable bond with his siblings. He made sure they always remained close and stayed connected. His presence brought strength and unity, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Though Yakuba is no longer with us, the impact of his life, and the love he gave to everyone will remain in our hearts forever.
Yakuba was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Oliver and John Scott; and his grandmother, Dora Mitchell-Oliver.
