Willie Vaughn, affectionately called "Woody", was born December 5, 1948, in Dalzell, South Carolina to the late Henry and Willie Mae Benbow Vaughn. Woody accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age. He was baptized at Joshua Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member during his youth. Woody was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina and graduated from Ebenezer High School. After high school, Woody was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Woody was married to Doris Quinn Vaughn for fifty-seven years. In their union two children were born, Juannetta and Janise. In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by a daughter, Janise; siblings, Jerry Benbow, Henry Vaughn, James Vaughn and Elias "Tee" Vaughn. Woody gained his wings and entered eternal rest on Wednesday September 24, 2025 in Columbia, South Carolina Woody leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, Doris Elaine Vaughn; a devoted and loving daughter, Juannetta; five grandchildren, Shantenise (Sekou), Kia (Geremy), Jaron, Daijah, and Deuce (Lyric); ten great grandchildren, dedicated siblings, Marie Loney, Bertie Nathaniel, Janie (Andrew) English and Walter Vaughn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
