Willie James Fulwood

Willie James Fulwood was born November 20, 1933, to the late Simon Fulwood and Ruth Truesdale Fulwood in Sumter County, SC.

Willie James was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He attended Johnson School where he completed his education. At an early age, he joined Mt. Sinai A.M.E Church in Lynchburg, SC. He was employed with Daniel Construction Company in Darlington, SC.

Willie James Fulwood was joined in holy matrimony to Estelle Olivia Samuel Fulwood, and together they shared fifty-three (53) beautiful years of marriage.

In addition to his parents, Willie James was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Fulwood; three children, Joyce Fulwood, Ron Christopher Fulwood, and Reginald Fulwood; grandson, Ahmad Rashad Samuel; three sisters, Rosa Lee Fullard, Willie May Prince, and Emma James; and three brothers, Frank Fulwood, Walker Fulwood and William Fulwood.

Willie James Fulwood peacefully departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his residence.

Willie James leaves to cherish precious memories two beautiful daughters, Peggy Ann Fulwood Lee of Lynchburg, SC and Marilyn Fulwood of Sumter, SC; two step-daughters, Elder Jackie Kennedy of Sumter, SC, and Gloria (Steve) Pendegrass of Sumter, SC; two sons, Lucky J. (Stacey) Fulwood of Sumter, SC and Chucky (Chalavar) Fullwood of Norfolk, VA; one grandchild, Rasean G. Fulwood of the home; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia (Roosevelt) Lowery; three sisters-in-law, Esther Peters of Virgina, Janice Samuels of Sumter, SC and Elizabeth Samuel of Sumter, SC; two brothers-in-law, Perry (Jackie) Samuel of Florence, SC and T.J Samuel of New York; treasured nieces, Alice Fulwood of Columbia, SC, Surby Jean Fullard of Lynchburg, SC and Loretta Foreman (Coco) of Texas; a bonus daughter, Edith Wheeler of Sumter, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
