Obituary Valerie Jones-Fields was born on August 15, 1949 in New York, New York to the late George Carter and Bernell M. Singleton. She was married to the late Robert A. Fields. She graduated from Mabel Dean Bacon High School, Mabel Dean Nursing School in New York City and Central Carolina in Sumter, South Carolina. She was employed at Hopewell Nursing Home for 10 years.Valerie departed this life on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Tuomey Regional Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina. She enjoyed reading, watching game shows, good food and spending time with her family and friends on the computer. She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin B. Fields, one sister, Shirley A. Jones, and three brothers; Frank W.L. Jones, Freddie Pringle and Thomas Maple.She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Anthony A. Fields (Francina Wright) of Sumter, SC and Kenneth J. Fields (Shanna Pope) of Fort Dix, NJ; one daughter, Jenine K. L. Walker of Columbia, SC; one god-daughter, Monica D. Burns of San Antonio, TX; two step-sons, Quincy Fields and Robert Fields of Woodbridge, VA; three step-daughters, Michele Fields and Quinette Fields-Quarles of Woodbridge, VA and Quetcy Fields-Esposito of Lakewood, NJ; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Jones-Gilliard and Pamela Jones-Wilder (Fred Wilder) both of Sumter, SC; five brothers, Roger B. Jones, Gregory (Charlie Mae) Jones, James (Dorothy) Maple, George (Virginia) Maple all of Sumter,SC and Melburn Jones of Jacksonville, NC; one sister-in-law, Maggie Jones of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Jelisa Fields of Columbia, SC, Marquise Fields of Orangeburg, SC, Deseree Pope-Fields of Sylacauga, AL, Justice Fields of Sumter, SC and Jasmine Fields of Pensacola, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
