The Journey Begins Mr. Truman Rouse began his life's journey on Friday, March 8, 1946, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair, Sr. and Geneva Fronebager Rouse. He was reared in a loving home with his six sisters and four brothers. A Time To Grow Bro. Truman attended the public schools of Sumter County at the former Lincoln High School. Reared in the church from childhood, he was a lifelong member of Beulah African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a faithful member of the Sons of Allen and the Lay Organization. He was a quiet and soft-spoken person who attended church faithfully until his health began to fail. Bro. Truman was employed at the B. L. Montague, Inc. Steel Plant. After 25 years of dedicated service as a Welder, he retired and pursued other opportunities. He then began his second career at the Sumter School District as a Maintenance Worker at Alice Drive Middle School for over 15 years. He then retired from the workforce a second time. Retirement afforded him the opportunity to watch his favorite ole time Westerns throughout the day, especially Gunsmoke. His other favorite television show was "Leave It To Beaver." When not watching television, you could find him outside working in the vegetable garden—loving the fresh outdoors. He also enjoyed playing baseball in the community baseball league. When not playing, he enjoyed watching his favorite professional baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. His greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends, especially all of his grandchildren…from the youngest to the oldest! Seeing all the grands growing and having fun gave him much joy! A Time Of Remembrance In addition to his parents, Bro. Truman was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilhemina Powell and Elizabeth Pettiford; three brothers, Charlie Rouse, Sinclair Rouse, Jr., and Boston Rouse; one brother-in-law, Herbert China and one grandson, Marcus Marquikeis Ragin. Thurman Rouse departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Bro. Rouse leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving children, Fabian Leroy Ray of Newark, NJ, Joyce (Mose) Peterson of Florence, SC, Marshall R. Jackson, Marilyn R. Hudson, Pamela (Kenneth) Simon, Shirl (Keith) Williams, and Melissa Rouse-Butler, all of Sumter, SC; four sisters, Carrie China and Janie Nedd of Sumter, SC; Jessie Galloway of New Haven, CT and Patricia Ann Sims of NY; one brother, Jimmie Fulton of Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Eartha Mae Holmes; one sister-in-law, Barbara Rouse; seventeen (17) grandchildren, forty (40) great grandchildren, and three (3) great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
