Ms. Tora Terrell Walters, daughter of the late Sammie Lee Walters and her loving mother, Mary Lee Session Walters, was born on October 7, 1971, in Sumter, South Carolina. Tora attended Rock Hill Baptist Church in Manning, SC, where she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at a young age and served in various capacities. Tora attended the public schools of Sumter, SC, and was a member of the class of 1989. Tora was a one-of-a-kind aunt whose life was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Though she had no children of her own, she poured her heart into being the fun aunt, the one who showed up with surprises, told the best stories, and made every gathering brighter just by being there. Tora adored her nieces and nephews, taking pride in watching each of them grow, and always offered encouragement, humor, and unwavering support. Among them was a special niece, with whom she shared a special bond—one built on deep love, laughter, and countless cherished moments that will be held close forever, Lakesah Cooley. Tora was known for her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and ability to make people feel seen and loved. She lived life on her own terms, embraced joy wherever she found it, and taught those around her the importance of connection, kindness, and not taking life too seriously. Tora was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Gloria Jean Davis; sister, Frances Maxfield-Hastie; dear brother, Sammie "LOBO" Tyrone Walters; and nephew, Marcus Frierson. Tora Terrell Walters transitioned on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Tora leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, a bonus sister, Reverend Sandra Simmons; three nieces, Lakesah Cooley, Monique Taylor, and Tanasia Walters; three nephews, Sammie Montgomery, Quinton (Brittany) Weldon, and Tyleek Walters; two aunts, Ola Mae Walters, and Mary Walters; two uncles, Esau Walters and James Session; brothers-in-law, Derrick Hastie and Julian Davis; and a host of other family and friends who loved her dearly and will forever miss her warmth, humor, and presence. Though she may be gone, her legacy lives on in the laughter she inspired and the love she gave so freely.
