Thomasena Galloway and her twin brother were born in Sumter, South Carolina to Goldie (Wilson) Harper and the late Thomas Wilson on June 23, 1947.
Thomasena attended public schools in both New York and South Carolina, completing her senior year at Eastern High School in Sumter, South Carolina. After graduation, she returned to New York and enrolled in the Job Corps, where she trained as a Nursing Assistant. She worked in that field for several years before her employment at Major Watch Factory as a computer operator in Brooklyn, New York. In the late 1980s, she made Sumter, S.C. her permanent home. She graduated from Central Carolina Technical College with a certificate in Early Childhood Development, however, returned to her love in being a Certified Nursing Assistant and retired from Tuomey Hospital in 2012.
Thomasena loved to laugh and found joy in seeing others happy. She especially enjoyed family game nights and watching comedy TV. She developed her skills in crafting, jewelry-making, and crocheting, and she took great pride in sharing her creations as gifts with anyone who showed interest.
Thomasena was baptized into Christ at Kingsbury Road Church of Christ, where she remained faithful until death, and served in many capacities doing the Lord’s work. Her commitment to scripture was unwavering—she read the Bible every morning and night, and when her eyesight no longer allowed her to read, she listened to the Word with the same daily devotion.
Thomasena is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Galloway; father, Thomas Wilson, Sr.; brother, Thomas Wilson Jr.; sister, Eloise Burgess, and “Dad” Deacon Paul Harper.
Thomasena Galloway transitioned from this life on Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
