Obituary On Friday, June 10, 2016 an angel appeared and touched Mr. Thomas Stuckey,Sr. and said, "Come with me for I have prepared a better place. I've been waiting for you, where there is no more suffering. You will see, our heavenly father awaits us."Thomas was born on March 19, 1935 to the late Lawrence and Annie Bell Hunter Stuckey in Lee County. Thomas was always willing to help others. A constant fixture at the hospital and nursing homes, Thomas always checked in on the sick and shut-in offering prayers with his affectionate smile that was always on his face.Thomas loved his family and community. Papa Stuckey or "Buzz", as he was affectionately known, was employed at Burgess-Brogdon for approximately forty years. Thomas was a faithful member of New Haven United Methodist Church where he served as President of the Usher Board, a member of the United Methodist Men and Trustee Board until his health began to decline.Thomas was a brother of Shriner Organization Salaam #17 International Mason,Lodge # 035 Sumter, SC. Brother Stuckey was appointed as a Supreme Recruit Deputy on July 31, 1993.Thomas was united in marriage to Mrs. Joe Ann Gass Stuckey for fifty- six years until her untimely death. They were blessed with four children, Thomas Jr, Joann, Ronnie and Larry.Thomas leaves to cherish precious memories two sons; Ronnie L. (Debra)Stuckey, Augusta, GA and Larry B (Martha) Stuckey, Sumter, SC, a devoted daughter; Joann Miller, Sumter SC., daughter-in-law, Tasha Stuckey, Sumter, SC,four siblings; Mr. Lawrence (Willie Mae) Stuckey and Mrs. Perthenia (Harmon) Jenkins, all of Bishopville, SC., Mrs. Janie Gass ,Newark, NJ, and Ms. Jeanette Mickens, Sumter, SC, two sisters-in-laws, Carrie L. Gass, Bishopville, SC and Cathy Riley-Gass Florence, SC, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren.and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and relatives and friends.In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas was proceeded in death by a son,Thomas Stuckey, Jr., and four siblings; Lucille McDaniel, John Lee Stuckey,Wilhemenia Shaw and Rosa Lee Burris.
