Obituary Life ReflectionsFor we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an eternal dwelling in the heavens, not made with hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1 KJVMrs. Theresa Tyler was born on April 24, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Pastor James Otis Gibbs and Mrs. Vera Garnett Gibbs. Theresa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of Bethesda Church of God, Pastor H. Albert Sims Sumter, SC. She was educated in the public schools in Brooklyn, NY and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, NC. Theresa was reserved and poised, a virtuous woman. She was a woman who exuded enduring strength! Strength that was pressed from the core of her soul with the reality of her inability to conceive children. Strength to endure and survive cancer. Strength to bury her eldest daughter Teona; the child that her soul longed for, her favor from God through adoption along with her sister Raven. Theresa embodied enduring strength to embrace motherhood and she wore her badge of "MOTHER" with honor, dignity and pride! Theresa exuded enduring strength! Strength to give a lot and ask for nothing in return. Strength to love her neighbor as a friend. Strength to serve God in the "eye of the storms" of disappointments, heartaches and pain. Theresa has endured her share of pain, but she handled it all stoically and with determination, daily reminding herself of her favorite scripture. God's anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning Psalm 30:5.Theresa was a "Petite Giant" loved by her family and friends, a no nonsense kinda girl! She was a woman of simplicity and didn't want a lot of fussing over her. She often said that she wanted her Epitaph to read: "Give Me My Flowers While I Live, and don't cry for me because I've cried my last tear Yesterday!"Theresa was predeceased by her grandparents Charlie and Bertha Gibbs, one sister, Vanessa Gibbs and her eldest daughter Teona Yolanda Tyler.Theresa was called to eternal rest on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Sumter, SC.Theresa will be dearly missed and forever remembered by: her husband, Anthony Ray Tyler; children, Anthony Ray Tyler Jr., Raven Tyler and Byron Tyler; four grandchildren; her siblings, Arlesa (James), Rambart of Virginia, Randy (Karen) James of Brooklyn NY, Larry Gibbs, of Brooklyn NY and Richard L.
