Steven Marie Johnson was born September 24, 1967, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Ada Mae Wells Johnson and the late Willie Montgomery. Steven was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. Steven was a devoted husband, father, and a respected member of the Sumter community. He was a diligent person with a passion for helping others, and his love for sports; particularly his cherished Dallas Cowboys, brought him endless joy. Steven spent twenty-eight (28) years working and serving the City of Sumter, earning a reputation for his dedication and hard work. After retiring, he remained an active and engaged member of his community and was always ready to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Johnson. Steven departed this life on March 31, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina. Steven is survived by his loving fiancée, Felicia Ramsey; his children, Steven (Juanita) Johnson Jr., Kenneth (Kia) Johnson, Laporchia Johnson, Thomas Brown (TJ), Tyleis Taylor, Kenarda Taylor, La'Shay Brown, and Tyleia (Christian) Brailsford; five grandchildren, KJ, Brooklyn, Kemylah, AJ, and Jordan; sisters, Mary Montgomery of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Stephanie Johnson of Sumter, South Carolina; brother, Kenney Montgomery of Bridgeport, Connecticut; stepfather, Charlie Wells of Sumter, South Carolina; stepmother, Mama Red Montgomery of Bridgeport, Connecticut; two brothers-in-law, Antonio Ramsey of Atlanta, Georgia and Cleveland Holmes of Wilmington, Delaware; a special mention goes to his dear friend, Little Miss Autumn Keels, who held a special place in his heart; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Steven's family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Their love and support meant the world to him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
