Born on April 19, 1967, at the Marion Sims Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, SC, she was the oldest daughter of Mary McGriff Williams and the late Simuel Williams. Simetrice was a 1985 graduate of Sumter High School where she excelled in the academics and served as Student Body Vice President. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Francis Marion University, Florence, SC where she became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was baptized at an early age at Saint Paul AME Church, Lancaster, SC and grew up in service during her youth at Bethel AME Church and Allen Chapel AME Church, Sumter, SC. Simetrice joined Mt Pisgah AME Church during her adulthood. During her residency in Myrtle Beach, she worshipped at Mt Olive AME Church. During her years of employment, Simetrice worked for the Clarendon County Disability Board, Manning, SC, and the SC Department of Social Services, Camden, SC. She found her niche in the Hotel and Tourism Industry in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was a Shift Manager for Burger King for several years before working in Customer Service as a Front Desk Clerk for Blue Bay Resort and the Breakers/The Strand Resorts. Her greatest joy was meeting tourists from various parts of the world. She befriended many winter rental tourists who visit annually. Simetrice had a quiet and pleasant personality, and she was a committed, dependable, and hard-working employee, and respected and loved by all. One of Simetrice's favorite quote was, "Try to Be a Rainbow in Someone's Cloud", by Maya Angelou. She was preceded in death by her father, the late Simuel Williams; maternal grandparents, the late Walter and Alethia McGriff; paternal grandparents, the late Dewitt and Addie Williams. Simetrice leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and praying mother, Mary McGriff Williams; a devoted sister, Camille Williams Shaw; two loving twin nephews of whom she adored and cherished; 2nd LT Stacey T. Shaw, II, Mihail Kogalniceanu, Romania, and William T. Shaw, Conway, SC; two caring aunts: Walter "Nana" Tillman, Lancaster SC and Deloris Purdy, Palatka, FL; two uncles: Robert McGriff, Sr. Lancaster, SC and Robert Williams, Oakland, CA; one caring goddaughter, Tori Orlanda Douglas, New York, NY. She also leaves a host of cousins, friends, and associates. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. daily at 15 Trailwood Drive, Sumter, SC 29154.
