https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/ruth-diggs-sanders Mrs. Ruth Diggs Sanders was born on August 28, 1931, in Rembert, South Carolina, to the late Levaniel Diggs and the late Rita Diggs. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. Ruth devoted her life to caring for the well-being of her family. She also had a love for gardening, quilting, and cooking. Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Rafting Creek Baptist Church. Later in life, she joined Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church where she worshipped faithfully. She was a member of the Pastor's Aide, Missionary Ministry and the Gospel Choir. On October 14, 1947, she married her beloved husband, Mr. Thomas Sanders Sr. They were married for 50 years. To this union, eleven children were born. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a beacon of love, kindness, strength and wisdom to her family, friends, and all who knew her. Ruth departed this earthly life at her home on Sunday, October 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, one sister, three brothers, four brother in-laws, and two son-in-laws. She leaves to cherish her memories; four daughters, Alverita (Mark) Peeples, Harrisburg, NC, Phriscillia (Charles) Marsh, Concord, NC, Cherry (Olion) McCall, Springfield, VA, and Minister Stene Johnson, Washington, DC; four sons, Bobby (Tara) Sanders, Rembert, SC, Jackson (Margaret) Sanders, Rembert, SC, Claude (Doris) Sanders, Glendale, Maryland, and Frank Sanders, Rembert, SC; daughter-in-law, Bessie Sanders, Camden, SC; four sisters, Alma Alston, Rembert, SC, Courtney Padgett, Dalzell, SC, Shirley Pinckney, Sumter, SC and Aldocers Pollard, Rembert, SC; one brother in law, John Pinckney, Sumter, SC; two special grand-daughters; Melissa Gaither, Dalzell, SC, and Nicquan Legette, Harrisburg, NC; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The family is receiving friends at 4170 Hosea Ave Rembert daily from 5PM to 8PM, please use Covid-19 protocol when visiting the home.
