https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/ruth-deas-dennis Ruth Dennis Deas was born on June 26, 1939, in Rembert, SC, to the late Reverend Abe D. Dennis and Sarah Alston Dennis. Ruth was one of a set of twin daughters and was the fourth of ten children. On Monday, June 12, 2023, she was called to her eternal home with her husband, Whitt, and son, Tracy, by her side. Ruth graduated from Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, SC, in 1957. While their families were acquainted, Whitt and Ruth were childhood sweethearts from Rembert Memorial Elementary. They married on September 15, 1957, at her parents' home in Rembert. Their union was blessed with children: Whitt Deas, Jr., Naomi Deas Boyle, Timothy Keith Deas, Jacqueline Deas Brown and  Vincent Tracy Deas. They relocated with their family to the Washington, DC area in 1963 and returned to Rembert in their retirement. Ruth accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 12 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Rembert under the leadership of her father, Pastor Abe D. Dennis. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to serving the Lord through the churches to which she belonged. When she and her husband moved with their family to Washington, D.C., they united with Carolina Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Church's Secretary, as an Usher, and a member of the Pastor's Aid Committee. Later, she became a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church where her son, Rev. Whitt Deas, Jr., was the Pastor. She led the Christian Education Ministry there, served as a Deaconess, as well as played piano.  Ruth began her professional life by working for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in the 1960s until 1977 when she became an entrepreneur by starting her own home daycare business. Ruth, better known as Dee Dee, had a gift for nurturing and educating children while encouraging their parents and that gift blessed hundreds of families until she retired in the year 2002. She was always well known, professionally and personally, for her compassionate nature and her heart to care for others.  Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Whitt Deas, Sr.; five children: Whitt, Jr., (Persephone), Naomi (Andrew), Timothy, Jacqueline (Bill), and Tracy (Jovana).  Grandchildren: Edward (Melissa), Jessica (Christopher), Tamara, Tiphane (Alford), Tabitha, Whitney (Kevin, Sr.), Casianna, Stephane, Victoria, Samara, Sebastian, Jordan, Whitt 3 and Vincent. Great-grandchildren: Kenneth, Lashay, Alexander, Mathew, Dionne, Will, Trevor, Maxwell, Amelia, Kevin Jr.,  Kaleb, Marcus, Mason, Madelyn, Quinton and Chloe. Living Siblings: Mamie Stephens and Rev. James Wilson and Sisters-In-Law: Mary Dais, Thomasina Dais, Dorethea Deas, Gardenia Dennis and Alene Wilson. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Abe D. and Sarah Dennis, Brothers Rev. Willie Dennis, Sr., Rev. Abe Dennis, Jr. and Jerry Wilson; Sisters Ella Belle Watson, Naomi Sanders, Sarah Rollins, and Eva Goodwin.
