Rosetta J. Durant

Mrs. Rosetta Jacobs Durant, 94, was born on June 18, 1931 the daughter of the late Samuel L. Jacobs and the late Sarah Floyd Jacobs, in Sumter, South Carolina. She was the wife of the late John W. Durant, Sr.

Mrs. Durant was a member of High Hills Baptist Church. She received her education at the Catchall School in Dalzell, South Carolina. She was employed in domestic services at Shaw Air Force Base, and later retired from Sumter School District Two, where she worked at Oakland Elementary School for many years.

Mrs. Durant was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Durant, Sr.; her only sibling, Victoria Boyd; and a nephew, Samuel Lee (Bobby) Jacobs.

Mrs. Rosetta Jacob Durant departed this life on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Sumter, South Carolina.

Mrs. Durant leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Earnestine O. Durant of Dalzell, South Carolina and Johnell Rogers of Sumter, South Carolina; one son, John W. (Kim) Durant, Jr. of Camden, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Quanda D. Sims, Willie J. Rogers, Jr., Syreeta (Kerwyn) Neely, Jacinta L. Goodman, Ricardo M. Durant, Jaden D. Durant, and Sterling (Alexandra) Savage; three great grandchildren, James Darian Q. (Krista) Durant, David A. Sims, and Danielle A. Sims; and one great-great-grandson, Grayson S. Durant. She is also lovingly remembered by a former daughter-in-law, Rose M. Durant; former son-in-law, Willie J. Rogers, Sr.; special niece, Dorothy Barnhill; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
