Mrs. Rose Marie Gause Staley, affectionately known as "Ree" and "Miss Marie" was born on December 26, 1935, to the late Pink and Annie Gause. She was married to the late Esau Staley. Rose was educated in the Horry County school system. She worked on the farm and as an Avon representative. Rose was a devout member of High Hills Baptist church until her health failed. She served as a trustee, treasurer, and member of the choir. Rose was also a member of the Eastern Star, until the chapter closed. Rose enjoyed singing, cooking, making jelly for the family, as well as her chocolate cakes and lemon meringue pies. Her smile and big laugh were hard to miss. Rose transitioned from this earthly life on October 30, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Johnny Lee (Betty) Gause of Sumter, South Carolina and Donald Staley of Ludwigshafen, Germany; two daughters, Bonnie Sanford of San Diego, California and Cherry (John) Smith-Stanley of Supply, NC; three brothers, Deacon Jimmy Lee Gause of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dr. Tim (Doris) Gause of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Wade Gause of London, Kentucky; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; one longtime friend, Esterlene Pope; one loving friend at Lake Marion Nursing Facility, Rosa Logan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
