Roosevelt "Velt" Edwards was born October 16, 1960, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late James Joe and Jessie Mae Richardson Edwards. Roosevelt was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a member of the graduating class of 1978 from Sumter High School. Roosevelt worked for various companies including Gold Kist, H & R Metal, Evans Trailers, and Metalcote prior to starting his own Lawn Care Service in 2012. Roosevelt accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized at the Joshua Baptist Church in Dalzell, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Dennis. Roosevelt loved being outside, where he enjoyed yard work or just playing one on one basketball with his grandson, Jamere. His greatest love was the love for his family and his love for his children. His grandchildren were his life. All twelve of them had a unique name that he provided for them and Roosevelt enjoyed each of them in his own special way. Roosevelt enjoyed the Sunday dinners with the family each week. Even though he was in the background, he just wanted the family to come together and make memories and we did just that as family and friends. In addition to his parents, Roosevelt was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany B. Edwards; two sisters, Carrie Anderson and Betty Generette; two brothers, Haskell Edwards and Warren Edwards; brother-in-law, Marion Prince, Jr.; niece, Tonya Edwards; and nephew, Jy're Prince. Roosevelt transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Sumter, South Carolina. Roosevelt's precious memories of his life will be cherished by his wife, Brenda Prince Edwards; three daughters, Shashonda (Xavier) Harvey, Shanekquie Brown, Natasha Edwards; one son, Dominique R. Edwards; grandchildren, Kareem Mack, Rasheen Epps, Malik Rosado, Gabriel Harvey, Akeen Edwards, Aniyah Spencer, Dreama Edwards, Zion Harvey, Jamere Baxter, Jamarrion Jennings and Landon Pack; two sisters, Gracie Prince and Mamie Wilder; one brother, Jesse Edwards; five brothers-in-law, Sammy Generette, Eddie Anderson, Leroy (Sandra) Prince, Lyndell Prince and Lorenzo (Maxine) Prince; three sisters-in-laws, Gloria (Robert) Bennett, Lillie (Robert) Dix and Barbara (Therel) Jackson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
