Psalm 18:2 Robert Smith, Jr. was born February 25, 1934, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Robert, Sr. and Maybell Pugh Smith. Robert was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Robert worked for Britton and Brogdon and Burgess and Brogdon as a truck driver for over fifty (50) years, until his retirement. Robert always had a passion for music, hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. He spent numerous hours outside in his garden. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His memories will be cherished by those who knew him. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, siblings, granddaughter, two great grandchildren, one son-in-law, and one daughter-in-law. Robert slipped away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Sumter, South Carolina. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-seven (67) years, Dorothy Mae Bradley Smith; nine children, Patricia McKnight, Harry Lee Smith, Robert June Smith, Mary Lee (Randolph) Green, Dorothy Ann (Marshall) Dicks, Lillie Mae Pressley, Jeanette (Ronnie) English, Michael James Smith, and Angela Tasha Smith, all of Sumter, South Carolina; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; special sister, Annie Mae Smith; special niece, Debra Ann Smith; godchildren, James and Hillary ______; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
