Obituary Raymond S. Patterson, Sr., 67, was born at Cumberland Hospital, in Brooklyn, New York on September 28, 1945. He was the son of the late Rosalee Patterson, and raised in the home of the late Stanley and Annie Mae DeMusey.Raymond, affectionately known as "Syke" was educated in the New York City Public School System, and grew up in the St. Paul Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. He graduated from the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois and served one tour honorably in the United States Navy. He has lived in New York, Georgia, North Carolina, and finally South Carolina, where he spent many summers while growing up.Raymond retired from the City of Camden in 2005, where he worked as a Water Plant Operator.Raymond is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Patterson, and a sister, Roberta Thompson. He departed this life Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Kershaw County Health.Raymond is survived by his wife, Laura Reed Patterson; two children, Miehisa Zahorski (Alex) of Fayetteville, NC., and Raymond S. Wiggins of Atlanta, GA; ten stepchildren, Kelvin Brown (Candace), Savannah, GA, Derric Jammison (Alana), Charles Jammison, both of Atlanta GA, Pearl Wiggins Rollins, Savannah GA, Michelle Williams (Randolph), Irving TX, Raquel Purvis (Alhaji Sualley), Rockville MD, Robin McCall Gaston (Fred), Brandon, FL, Michael McCall (Capreshia), Sumter SC, Marcia McCall (Keith Truesdale), Ruskin FL, and Yumuriel Whitaker (Jerome), Augusta GA.; four brothers, Thomas Patterson (Elysie), Rembert, SC, Donald Patterson (Sylvia), Rochester NY, David Patterson (Ellen), Rembert, SC, and James "JC" (Shirley), Queens NY; four sisters, Katherine Thomas, Camden, SC, Patricia and Mary Edith, both of Brooklyn, NY, and Deanna DeMusey, Columbia, SC; thirty-two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Papo", and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him very much.
