Raymond Balls was born December 23, 1952, in Wedgefield, South Carolina to the late Marion and Rosa Balls Gayle. Raymond was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School. Raymond was employed by Madison Industries located in Sumter, South Carolina.  After his retirement, he found enjoyment in working in the yard and conducting various mechanical work. Raymond was raised by a loving family that attended the Orangehill R.U.M.E Church in Wedgefield, SC. Raymond was united in holy matrimony to the former Sarah Amos, and they have been married for forty-seven (47) years. Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Raymond J. Balls; mother, Rosa Balls Gayle; father, Marion Gayle; and brother, James Balls.  On Friday, February 21, 2025, God called his servant Raymond Balls to rest at his home in Sumter, South Carolina. Raymond leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Sarah Balls of Sumter, South Carolina; he was blessed with three daughters, Felicia Balls of Sumter, South Carolina, Kathy (Ricky) Montgomery of Elgin, South Carolina, and Shirley Drayton of Sumter, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Cameron Balls of Sumter, South Carolina, Madison Montgomery of Elgin, South Carolina, Shay Reid of Columbia, South Carolina, Shawn (Gerard) Green of Blythewood, South Carolina, Kaewon Nelson, and Tywon Jones, both of Sumter, South Carolina; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Amos and Marie Amos, both of Sumter, South Carolina; one aunt, Alma Balls of Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
