Obituary On Wednesday August 11,2021 the book of life closed its final chapter on the earthly life of Mr. Ramsey McKnight at his home with his loving family with him.  He was born on May 15,1935 in Clarendon County; he was the son of the late Mr. John and Idella McKnight. He attended the public school of Clarendon County. At an early age he joined St. John Baptist Church and later became affiliated with St. Matthews Baptist Church.  He was faithful to his church where he served on the trustee board, and sang with the St. Matthew Male Choir, and the Blue Cloud Gospel Singers. He was retired from McCoy Utilities and Jameson Farms. He was a quiet spoken man, a dedicated husband, brother, uncle, father, and granddaddy. He was a friend and brother to all that meet him. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Betty James McKnight, and to this union five children were raised with three God daughters. Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by two children. Son Frankie McKnight and daughter Susan "Eve" McKnight; three sisters; Louise McKnight, Frances Bradley, and Blanche McKnight all of Sumter, SC; nine brothers; Wesley McKnight, Robert McKnight, Edward McKnight, Willie McKnight, Leo McKnight, Jr., O'Neal McKnight, Loyd McKnight, and Sammie McKnight all of Sumter, SC, and Albert McKnight, of Thomasville, NC; one God daughter, Nechelle Wright Gastonia, NC. He leaves to cherish memories; one sister, Rosa Mae McKnight of the home for Sumter, SC; three daughter's, Frances McKnight, Teresa Washington, and Carline McKnight of the home, a son, James "Rick" McKnight (Kim) of Spartanburg, SC. six grandchildren; Eugene McKnight (Kenyette), Andrea "Nay" Tindal (Andre), Makeshia Mark (Herbert), Letitia McKnight, and Trenell Washington, all reared in the home from Sumter, SC, and Martise McKnight of Spartanburg, SC, ten great-grandchildren; Ke'Andre Tindal, Andrea Tindal, De'Andre Tindal reared in the home from Sumter, SC., Keyaun McKnight, Emery McKnight, Destiny Ragin, Aiyana McKnight, Devontray Pack, Ty'Ceir Lucky and Ty'Mere Washington: one god-daughter, Tasha Washington of Sumter, SC, a loving nephew, Woodrow McKnight  and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.   To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ramsey McKnight, please visit our floral store.
