Johnson was born on February 25, 1948, in Sumter South Carolina to the late Lilly Williams and Rufus Kemp Sr. Olivia attended the public schools of Sumter County. She became a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist church at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Dr. L. W. Walker Sr. In addition to her parents, Olivia was proceeded in death by one son, Lorenzo D. Johnson; four sisters, Gladys Canty, Ruth Baldwin, Susie Singleton and Wilma Canty; and nine brothers, Henry Clark, James Canty, William Canty, Rufus Kemp Jr., Daniel Canty, Deacon Marion Canty, Ranger Canty, Parker Canty, Jr. and Ernest Pugh. Olivia C. Johnson transitioned from her earthly life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Olivia leaves to cherish her memories, her son, David E. Johnson of Sumter, South Carolina; two daughters, Celestine G. Canty of Chesapeake, Virginia and Emma Johnson of Sumter, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Joycelyn A. Canty of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tiffany R. Johnson, Shameka L. Johnson, Tinesha K. Johnson, of Sumter, South Carolina and Devin J. Canty of Chesapeake, Virginia; eleven great grandchildren, Trakiya T. Johnson, Quentin A. Wright, Tymeek A. Mack, Quenaisia A. Wright, Quentaveion A. Wright, Serenity D. Sims, Damoura L. James, and Sincere S. Sims, all of Sumter, South Carolina, Quinn T. Patrick, Mia G. Patrick, and Conner J. Canty, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Helen Clark of Sumter, South Carolina; two brothers, Marvin (Gloria) Clark and Griffin Kemp, both of Sumter, South Carolina; a special friend, Thelma Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted family members and friends.
