Obituary Mrs. Odell Nelson James was born April 6, 1944, in Sumter to the late Boston and Vicey Ludd Nelson. She received her education from Lincoln High School and loved playing basketball. In 1966, she married her best friend and the love of her life Clarence James, Sr. She he was a faithful member indeed of the Church of Christ, until her health started failing her, but her Heart and Mind determination was to fulfill the works of the lord. She was a member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir and Hospitality Ministry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Clarence James, Sr., twin brother, Ray Nelson, sister, Mary Pinckney and brother, Herbert Nelson. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, in Sumter, SC. She leaves to cherish her precious memories; three daughters, Jacqueline (Dexter) Lee, Sandra (Johnny) Holmes and Vanessa (Ron) Nichols, son, Clarence James, Jr.; three sisters, Geneva Jones, Gardena Pinckney, Elizabeth Nelson and Lucille (Donald) Lewis, two brothers, Thomas (Geneva) Nelson and Leon (Francine) Nelson; nine grandchildren, four great-grand-children, caretaker, Hilda Scott and a host of other family and friends.
