Nyheem Dashaun Burgess, 16, was born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 1, 2008. He was the fourth of five children born to Yolanda Holliday and Rodney Burgess. Nyheem received his education in the public schools of Sumter. He was known for always being there when someone needed him. He never turned his back on anyone. Nyheem had a great sense of humor and could lift people's spirits when they were feeling down. He was an outgoing person and was always the first at the table when it came to food. Although he wasn't shy, he could be reserved around people he didn't know well. Because of his deep love for his family, Nyheem would never let anyone speak ill of his family, and he would always stand up for them. Nyheem was preceded in death by his mother, Yolanda Holliday; sister, Khanesia Commander; grandmother, Dorenthia Burgess; grandfather, William O'Neal Jones; great grandmothers, Ruth Alston Burgess, Besse Baxter, Ester Ladson, and Thelma Jones; great grandfathers, Donald Jones, Henry Holliday, Sr. and Frank Ladson; aunts, Annie Singleton and Easter Mae Ladson; uncles, Henry Holliday, Jr., Prince Albert Baxter, and John Baxter; first cousin, Casondra Cowell; and second cousins, Debra Rhodes, Joshua Edmondson, and Asia Rembert. Nyheem Dashaun Burgess passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Nyheem leaves to cherish his precious memories his father, Rodney Burgess of Sumter, South Carolina; two sisters, Nizeria Jackie Holliday and Ashley Kori Holliday, both of Sumter, South Carolina; three brothers, Rodney Burgess Jr of Sumter, South Carolina, Nyquan OnTario Amos of El Paso, Texas, and DeMarcus Jerell Holliday of Sumter SC; one nephew, Ashton Cocklin of Sumter, South Carolina; grandparents, Jacquline Holliday, Samuel Rembert, and Charles Way; six aunts, Alexis (Marcus) Potts, Katrina Way, Joy Way, Barbara (Anthony) Holliday, all of Sumter, South Carolina, Natasha (Alfie) Harrison of Rembert, South Carolina, and Crystal (Earl) Fulwood of Dalzell, South Carolina; two uncles, Patrick Holliday of Lillington, North Carolina, and Samuel (Sabrina) Williams of Greenville, South Carolina; great aunts, Katrina (Marvin) Robinson, Francine (Roosevelt) Moses, Minnie Johnson, Mary Clark, Joe Ann Aiken, Helen (Perry) Edwards, Deborah (Bennie) Johnson, Lillie (Eddie) Williams and Loretta (John) Osborne; great uncles, Anthony (Hanna) Burgess, Lawrence (Arthelia) Baxter, and Robert (Delores) Baxter; and with host of other family, relatives and dear friends.
