Nancy Deloris Sweat Rose was born September 24, 1947, in Clarendon County to the late Wesley Sweat and Ethel Benbow Sweat Johnson. A Time To Grow Nancy was reared and attended the public schools in Clarendon County where she played basketball. As a young woman she helped her mother with farming. She was employed with VB Williams, Gold Kist, and Pilgrim's Pride Sumter. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her children and family. Nancy worked in the community, feeding, providing rides, and checking on the sick and needy. She loved to talk; she never met a stranger. Nancy enjoyed the reading of Psalms 23 and Psalm 84:10. A Time to Love Nancy was joined in holy matrimony to the late Wigfall Rose, Jr. and to this union four children were born. One son, Dennis Rose, preceded her in death. A Time to Worship In her youth, Nancy joined Fourth Cross Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir, served on the Usher Board as President for over thirty years, served on the pastor aid and the helping hand ministry. Nancy has faithfully maintained her membership. A Time to Mourn On Thursday, April 6, 2023, in St. Matthews, SC, Nancy was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father in-law, New and Wilhelmina Washington Rose; son, Dennis Rose; eight brothers, West Allen Sweat, Willie James Sweat, Sr, Douglas Johnson, Henry Lee Johnson, Albertus Johnson, Johnny Moses Johnson Moses Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, and Charles Edward Sweat, Sr.; and two sisters, Virdia Mae McBride and Ruth Mae Rose. Nancy leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters, Dr. Gloria Rose Lee, Barbara Ann Graham, and Vickie Rose; four grand- children, Joshua R. Rose, Dante' Harvin, LaQuana N. Lee, Quentin R. Kershaw; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca (Roosevelt) Sinkler and Victoria Gibson; two brothers, Cleveland (Roberta) Sweat and Calvin (Mary ) Johnson; six sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sweat, Eartha Lee Smith Johnson, Alice Rose Bracey, Susie Rose Bracey and Annie Jean Johnson; two cousins, reared in the home, James Clark and Emma Clark Adger; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
