Obituary

Michael Anthony Joe, (Mike), husband of Rachiel Tucker Joe, was born November 10,1966 in Sumter, SC to Roosevelt Joe Sr. and Juanita Cabbagestalk Joe.   At an early age, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized and joined Barnettsville Baptist Church in Bishopville, SC. Mike was a 1985 graduate of Sumter High School. He joined the United States Army in 1985 and received many decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons. In his youth he had a love for gospel music through songs.  He sang with the Six Originals and the St Matthews Gospel Singers. Mike's hobbies include watching USC football games, grilling at family functions, and watching the Jerry Springer show. Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Roosevelt Joe Jr.; sister-in-law, Lula Joe; father-in-law, John Henry Tucker Sr.; paternal grandparents, Robert and Essie Bell Joe; maternal grandparents, Paul Sr. and Robina Cabbagestalk. Mike entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Dorn Veterans Hospital System, Columbia, SC. Mike leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Rachiel; three sons, Michael (Tiliscia) Joe of Sumter, SC, Camron (Kiarra) Crowder of Killeen, TX, and Jamal (Kayla) Cuffie; two daughters, Jasmine Joe and De'Naji Gamble both of Sumter, SC; seven grandchildren, Arkeylin Scott, Mykel and Mylah White, Brison and Kayden Cuffie, all of Sumter, SC, and Cameron and Kamilla Crowder of Killeen, TX; parents, Roosevelt Joe and Juanita Cabbagestalk Joe;  three sisters, Mary (Fred) Jackson of Fort Pierce, FL, Edna Harkless of Florence, SC and Rebecca (Robert) Mack of Springhill, SC; mother-in-law, Marie Tucker of Sumter, SC; two brothers-in-law, John Tucker Jr and Kenneth Tucker, both of Sumter, SC; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Anthony) Polk and Shawn (Cleo) Powell of Sumter, SC; special nephew, Phillip Stuckey of Bishopville, SC; special niece, Shanita Joe of Sumter, SC; special friend, Terry Hollard of Sumter, SC; and a hosts of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
