Obituary Mattie G. Jones was born October 11, 1937 in St. Charles, SC to the late Harry and Bertha Washington Copeland, Sr.Mattie was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She was employed with Alice Drive Middle School for 28 years.Mattie was affectionately called "Dolly". She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was a faithful member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with the Fellowship Choir and Senior Missionary.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jones; three children, Bobby Earl Gaymon, Harry Lee Gaymon Jr, and Gloria Greene; two grandsons, Corey Henry Copeland and Jovon Rokeen Gaymon; one sister, Cornelius Dantzler; two brothers, Harry Lee Copeland Jr. and Nathaniel Copeland.Mattie G. Jones departed her earthly journey on Friday, February 20, 2015, at Tuomey Hospital.She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories: her loving children, Isaiah Copeland, Nathaniel G. Copeland (Gwendolyn) of Sumter, Henretta G. Gadson (James) of Wedgefield, SC, Bertha G. Benbow (Gerald) of the home, and Gloria Green (Jeffrey) of Jacksonville, FL; her stepmother, Maggie Copeland of Sumter; Jaleesa Benbow, Janel Benbow, Ashley Gadson, and Alexus Gaymon, grandchildren reared in the home, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Copeland and Marie Scarborough (John) of Sumter, SC, Bertha Mabry (Olen) of Baltimore, MD, and Ruth Ann Hampton (Alonzo) of Mayesville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
