Mary Elizabeth Prince Walters was born April 6, 1945, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Simon Ernest Prince and the late Carrie Scott Prince. Mary received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. At the tender age of eighteen (18), she married her true love, Joe Louis Walters. They shared three children together, Diane Walters, Joe Jr Walters, and Mary Louise Walters. Mary was a strong, independent woman. She enjoyed bingo, baseball, watching television, being outdoors, and most of all, spending time with the ones she loved. Mary never met a stranger and would do anything she could for anyone she encountered. In addition to her husband, Joe Louis Walters; daughter, Mary Louise Walters, and parents, Simon Ernest and Carrie Scott Prince; Mary was preceded in death by five brothers, Willie Scott, Isaiah Prince, Ernest Prince, Joseph Leon Prince and Ervin Prince; three sisters, Peggy Prince, Jeanetta Potts, and Lillian Prince; a stepsister, Mary Ann Gaymon and a granddaughter, Alexis Walters. Surrounded by family and love, on September 5, 2025, God decided it was time for Mary Elizabeth Prince Walters to depart this earthly life and enter eternal rest. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength. Mary leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Diane Walters and Joe Jr. Walters; seven grandchildren, Corey Walters, Latoya Walters, Franklin Walters, Quintana Walters, Shymicka Walters, Shaquelah Walters and Marcus Walters; four bonus grandchildren, Taylor Evans, Megan Bolden, Marcus Dyer and Mandrian Dyer; sixteen great grandchildren, Tyniece Evans, Amil Walters, Korrie Walters, Izaiah Walters, Tyhiem Walters, Keyondre Durant Lyrica Bacote, Jaelin Riley, Kayden Mahoney, Khloe Mahoney, Kaelynn Mahoney, Cashmere Walters, O'Mari Tucker, Aaliyah Barno, Adyen Walters, and Amir Barno, three great-great grandchildren, Mylin Cooper, Christian Cooper, and Wynter Durant; three stepsisters, Delphine (Ervin) Gordon, Saddie Sharpe and Alice (Abraham) Champagne; two adopted children, Rene Wells and Dwayne Wells; daughter-in-law, Catherine Goodman; son-in-law, Sylvester White; god daughter, Etta Jean Abram; special niece, Gloria Ann Ellerbee; aunt, Gladys Smith; special friend, Annie Mae Wells; an extended family, The Moses Family; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
