Mary Sue Dennis was born October 16, 1948, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Eddie, Sr. and Lilly Frierson Dees. Mary was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in the 1960's and united with the Grant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rembert, South Carolina. She became a member of the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in New York, New York in March 2009. Mary married Henry Dennis, Sr. on December 24, 1968, in Sumter, South Carolina and became Mary Sue Dennis. Two sons were born to this union, Deon Dennis and Henry Bernard Dennis, Jr. Mary and Henry moved to New York in 1969, where she enjoyed her title of homemaker throughout her union with Henry, Sr. Mary was a good provider and generous with her time and talents. After becoming a widow, three (3) years ago, Mary enjoyed her time traveling to family events as well as being a grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dennis, Sr.; two sisters, Evelyn Burnett and Teresa Glover; and six brothers, Clarence Dees, Louis Dees, Boston Dees, Eddie Dees, Jr., Harry Dees and James Dees. Mary departed this life on September 12, 2025, in Newark, New Jersey. Mary leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Deon (Johnnie Mae) Dennis and Henry Bernard (Yveline) Dennis, Jr.; six grandchildren, Kayla Dennis, Markayla Dennis, Deon Dennis, Jr., Antwann Thomas, Isaiah Woods and Zylecia Burgess; six great grandchildren; sister, Dyanna (Harold) Jefferson; two brothers, Roosevelt (Selena) Dees and Johnny (Deandrus) Dees; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and two very dear friends, Betty McCall and Eunice Blackwell. Mary's untimely passing was an example of her favorite Bible verse which can be found in Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Mary's loving and caring personality will be missed by all who know and love her.
