Martha Greene Mickens was born on June 5, 1951, to the late Irvin Greene and Mamie Alston Simon Greene in Bishopville, SC. After her parents' death she was raised by the late James and Lucinda Simon. Martha grew up in Sumter and attended public schools in Sumter County, where she was also raised alongside her nine siblings. Martha was a twin to the late Mary McCleod, and she deeply loved all her sisters and brothers. At an early age, she joined Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, serving the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. Martha's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She celebrated every milestone, cheered every achievement, and stood by them through every challenge. Her love was unconditional, and her support was boundless. She was their biggest fan, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and reminding them of their worth. Martha had a true love for wrestling, fried chicken, and coffee. On any given day, she could be found dancing, listening to music, or cooking for those she loved. She welcomed everyone with open arms and a generous spirit, always ready with a kind word, a home-cooked meal, a heartfelt smile, and warm hugs. Martha's legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the values she instilled—love, family, joy, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. In addition to her parents and the persons who raised her, Martha was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Butler, Evelina Prioleau, and Mary "Biggie" McLeod; four brothers, Marion Alston, Zeke Alstoqn, Ashby Greene and Billy Jett; two nieces, Francine Greene and Marie Greene; uncle and aunt, James and Lucinda Alston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Isaac Sr. and Lillie Mae Mickens; sister-in-law, Emma Peoples; seven brothers-in-law, Sammie Mickens, James Mickens, Reginald Mickens, Robrt Mickens, Herbert Harriet, James Rogers, and Henry Bethea; and a special cousin, Ann Greene-Gallishaw.
