Marshall Dinkins Jr., the widower of the late Lottie Gertrude Alston Dinkins, was born February 10, 1938, in Sumter County. He was the oldest son of the late Marshall Dinkins and Carrie Davis Griggs. Marshall was reared by the late Hodge and Leacy Dinkins of Rembert, South Carolina. Marshall received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator from Becker Sand and Gravel. At an early age, Marshall accepted Christ, and became a member of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, Rembert, South Carolina. He later moved his membership to Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Rembert, South Carolina. Marshall had a firm commitment to his family, and instilled in his children a sense of love, humor, and the value of family. In addition to his late loving wife and parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his brothers, John Edward Dinkins, Harold Griggs, and Willie Griggs; son-in-law, Joseph Osborne, and grandson, Dennis Littles, Jr. Marshall departed this life on Friday, April 19, 2024, at his home in Rembert, South Carolina. Marshall leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Marshall (Alida) Dinkins III of Miramar, Florida, Lorraine (Dennis) Littles, Eula Lee Osborne, Carrie (Stan) James, Johnny (Cynthia) Dinkins, Gary Dinkins, and Edward (Carolyn) Alston, all of Sumter, South Carolina; three sisters, Julia Bell Nevels, Carrie Mae Griggs, and Margie Griggs; sister-in-law, JoAnn Dinkins of Romulus, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, Shanekia Littles, Kaneshia Allen, Kareem Littles, Stan James III, Marshall Dinkins IV, Shertod James, Joneshia Osborne, Jasmin Osborne, Christine Osborne, Damien Alston, Jewel Alston, and C'yle Alston; eleven great grandchildren; special friends, Gary Collick and Lisa Pack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
