Marion Green Jr. "Bay Boy" was born in Wedgefield, SC on June 2, 1937, to the late John "Marion" Green Sr. and Prectdia Green Washington. He was married to the late Sallie Mae Washington Green for 56 years. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter, County. Marion enjoyed spending time with his family. He worked for Santee Print for 20 years and the Coca Cola plant for 10 years before he retired. Marion was a faithful and devoted member of Bethel AME Church in Wedgefield, SC where he served in many ministries to include the Trustee Board, Pulpit Aid Board, Male Choir, Sons of Allen, Ushers Board, and the Finance Committee. In addition to his wife, his parents, and grandparents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Oxendine, Janie Lee Taylor, and Sarah Harvin. Five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Marion departed this life on February 2, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, SC surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children, Deacon Earl (Lucille) Green, Margaret Joyner of the home; two grandchildren, Quina Joyner of the home, and Latonya Canty of Columbia, SC; one sister, Marie Anderson of Columbia, SC; two brothers, James Green and Robert Green, both of Sumter, SC; five sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Green, Doshia Green, both of Sumter, SC, Naomi Polk, Susan Sims, and Rovenia Harris all of Pinewood, SC; loved as a son, Reverend John (Estelle) Cunningham of Sumter, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
