Ms. Lula Mae McKenny McMillian was born on July 15, 1954, in Sumter County to the late Rev. Simon McKenny and Etta Conyers McKenny. She attended public schools in Sumter County. Lula graduated from Sumter High school as a member of the class of 1972. She later attended Morris College. She was a substitute teacher in the Sumter County School Districts 2 and 17. Lula then taught at the Sumter Disabilities Board, before starting in the home health care field, where she was employed until she retired due to health issues. At an early age,Lula accepted Christ in her life and served God faithfully. Ms. Lula McKenny McMillian departed this earthly life on Monday June 2, 2025 and entered Eternal Peace. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Etta McKenny; one sister, Olivia Cunningham; and two brothers, Christopher McKenny and Simon McKenny Jr . Lula's precious memories will forever be in the hearts of her six loving children, Deacon Hampton (Shawanda) McMillian of Sumter, SC, Seneca (Renarda) McMillian of Charlotte, NC, Craytion (Martha) McMillian of Sumter, SC, Kizzy McMillian, Joshua (Tierra) McMillian of Hopkins, SC and Jonathan (LaKisha) McMillian of Charlotte, NC; eighteen grandchildren that held a special place in her heart, Destiny Conyers, TaMia Conyers, Zimri McMillian, Aaron McMillian, Anna McMillian, Dayshon Whittaker, Abdul Whittaker Amani (Devin) Porter, Thomas McClary, Olivia McMillian , Seneca McMillian Jr, Simeon McMillian, Danelle McMillian, Micaiah McMillian, MaKayla Leamon, Hannah McMillian, Joshua McMillian Jr., and Jaymar Ludd; three great grandchildren she adored, Blake Braxton Jr., Zebella Porter, Harmony Baldwin; one sister, Minister Sandra (Matthew) McCutcheon; four brothers, Deacon Joe Nathan (Geraldine) McKenny, Apostle Levern (Stephanie) McKenny, Alfonzo (Lisa) McKenny and Eddie White Sr.; god-grandchildren, Juan Riviera and Rokel Battle; and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, and dear friends.
