Leroy Williams, a son of the late Laura Mae Williams and the late Josh Jamison was born on February 21, 1934, in the Britton Community of Sumter/Clarendon County. Leroy received his education in the public schools of Sumter County, and retired from Wyncote Towers in Philadelphia, PA. Upon returning home to Sumter, he later became the owner of Williams Used Cars. At an early age, Leroy and his family attended Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Savior and was united in the body of Christ during that time. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents. As we celebrate the life and homegoing of Mr. Leroy (Roy Lee) Williams, God sent His angels on Tuesday February 6, 2024, to his residence and called him to eternal rest. A gentle soul as we know it has taken flight at the call of our heavenly father. Leroy leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted daughter, Tacanya A. Washington of Sumter, SC; one son, Gregory L. (Stacey) Hopkins of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Clifford Williams of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Ella Mae Williams of Philadelphia, PA; a special friend, Lucile Davis of Sumter, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
