Obituary

Obituary Our Creator went into his garden and plucked yet another beautiful rose. Mr. Leroy Hammett departed this life on Monday, July 13, 2020 at The Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. Leroy was born June 6, 1962 in Sumter to the late Albert and Doshia Peterson Hammett. He attended the public schools of Lee County and attended Central Carolina Technical  College. He was a faithful member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he served on several ministries. He was employed at Eaton Corporation, where he served in many capacities for many years. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, studying his Bible and spending time with his wife, children, grandchild, relatives, and friends. Although his presence will be greatly missed, we who are bound by treasured ties of love, affection, respect and devotion send forth this final tribute, giving thanks to God for allowing us to be beneficiaries of his love, comforting words of wisdom and advice and his reassuring smile. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, a  brother-in-law, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Leroy leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving wife, Mazielle S. Hammett; two daughters, Shaylia R. Strong and Aszah Strong; a grandson, King L. Strong; six brothers, Robert Hammett of Las Vegas, NV, James Hammett and Albert (Margaret) Hammett both of Bishopville, SC, Curtis (Patricia) Hammett of Sumter, SC, Bill Hammett of Rock Hill, SC and Bernard (Ann) Hammett of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Catherine (Lionel) Pack of  Gable, SC, Rosa H.
