Kenneth Witherspoon was born April 5, 1962, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Ronnie, Sr. and Susie Mae Watson Witherspoon. Kenneth was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a member of the graduating class of 1980 from Sumter High School. Kenneth accepted Christ as his Savior and attended church with his mother at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. After returning to Sumter, he reunited with the church and has served faithfully. He worked as part of the Monitors Ministry and loved that ministry assignment. Kenneth married Betty Sweat Witherspoon. From their union, they have two children; a daughter, Tiffany, and a son, K. J. Kenneth worked many jobs throughout his lifetime. In his early years, he worked in Norwalk, CT., and upon his return to Sumter, he worked for Sumter Builder Construction Company. Later in life, he was employed by Fort Roofing Company, until his health declined. Kenneth was a man that loved to have fun and joked all the time. However, his ultimate desire was to be a part of the church, to change his lifestyle and give God the glory. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Witherspoon and Tracey Oliver; and a granddaughter, Kahlia Woods.
