Obituary John Arthur Sullivan, Jr. was born January 11, 1945 in Greenville, SC to the late John and Evelyn Payden Sullivan, Sr.John was educated in the public schools of Buffalo, NY  and New York City, NY, however Public School #31 was the one, he was most the most fond of, it gave him a sense of direction and reality. John participate in track field and was an avid swimmer. Upon completing high school, he joined the United States Army and served his country and was honorable discharged.John was a hard working man and worked many jobs in Buffalo, NY. He retired from the Telephone Company, where he was employed for over twenty-five years and earned the name "Telephone Man".John had several hobbies and loved gardening and certainly had a "green thumb" and could grow anything. John enjoyed fishing and was a very good cook. He enjoyed baking and wine making and embraced the finer things of life.John was a very loving man, who was devoted to his wife, Andrea, his family and friends.John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Sullivan, Sr.; sister, Barbara Allen and sister in law, Charlie Mae Bright.John departed this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Sumter, SC.John leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Andrea Sullivan of Sumter, SC; sons, John Sullivan, III (Rabbit) and Jarmal Jones; stepsons, Chauncey Thompson and Jarmal Jones; step sons, Chauncey Thompson and Jamaro Thompson; stepdaughter, Eleathia Lewis; two children he raised, Cantrice Barker and Joe Sullivan; nineteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Shelia Sullivan; three sisters-in-law, Anna Sanchez, Theresa James and Deborah Sanchez; special friend, Charles Hollaway; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
