John Thomas McFarland, Sr. was born July 29, 1948, in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Thomas "Tommy" and Irene Nelson McFarland. John was educated in the public schools of Troup County, Georgia. John accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the Rising Grove Baptist Church. John was a son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching football. John's favorite football team was the Atlanta Falcons. John worked on cars when needed.  He was full of life and loved the Lord God. John was married to Addie Land Scott McFarland and to this union, three children were born.  Later in life, he married Derlia Ann Scott McFarland. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Derlia Ann Scott McFarland; daughter, Angelar McFarland; granddaughter, Tatiana McFarland; great granddaughter, My'Nova Satterwhite; two brothers, Melvin McFarland and Milton McFarland; two sisters, Dorothy Gilbert and Betty McFarland; and sister-in-law, Karen Hill McFarland. John departed this life on Monday, November 25, 2024, in Sumter, South Carolina. John leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Nataha L. (Lamar) Johnson of LaGrange, Georgia; two sons, John T. (Macesadie) McFarland of LaGrange, Georgia and Roderick J. (Cindy) McFarland of Netherland, Amsterdam; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Eugenia McFarland of LaGrange, Georgia; five brothers, Eugene (Kenya) McFarland, Willie McFarland, both of Roanoke, Alabama, Dexter McFarland, Clifford (Sabrena) Turner and Cornell (Sonja) Turner, all of LaGrange, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and dear friends.
