John "Brother" Johnson was born June 25, 1935, in Lee County. He was the son of the late Hartsell John McDuffie and Sarah Wright McDuffie Johnson and the stepson of the late Aaron Johnson. He was educated in the public schools of Lee County. John was employed by the City of Sumter for over thirty-five (35) years where he thrived until retiring. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by five sisters Angeline McDuffie Sanders, Mary McDuffie, Louise McDuffie Vaughn, Inez McDuffie English, and Rosa McDuffie Davis. One brother Isaac McDuffie. John "Brother", departed life on Wednesday December 29, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son Patrick Mcquiller; five granddaughters Drucilla Isaac (Naquan), Jy'nia Mcquiller, Empress Josey, Makiyah Mcquiller and Sariyah Mcquiller; two grandsons, Triston Mcquiller and Daquan Richardson all of Sumter County; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Johnson Willis; one brother, Leroy Johnson (Mildred) both of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, other relatives, and friends.
