John Demetrius Lawson was born on March 18, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York to Richard Lawson, Sr. and the late Dorothy Morgan Baldwin. John transitioned and gained his heavenly wings on January 31, 2024, in Columbia, South Carolina. John leaves to cherish his memories his four children, Shericka (Anthony) McKnight of Hinesville, GA; John Lawson, II of Sumter, SC; Jarell Lawson of Sumter, SC; and Tameka Owens of Brooklyn, NY; a fiancèe, Tracey Isaac; six grandchildren, A'nijah, Kennedy, Zuri, Journi, Jamere, and Giannis; three sisters, Dyanne (Joe) Hill of Dayton, OH, Lisa Lawson of Rembert, SC, and LaChristina Hall of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Richard (Paulette) Lawson of Sumter, SC; a stepfather Daniel Baldwin, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives whom he all loved dearly. John was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley Lawson and Daniel Baldwin, III.
