Joey Terrell Gibson was born March 13, 1983, in Sumter, SC to Carolina Gibson and the late Joseph Arthur and was nurtured by Harvis McGee Jr. Joey was educated in the public schools of Sumter, SC. He was the owner of Go Hard Hauling Company. He was a hard worker and a family-oriented person. Joey loved his children and enjoyed making people laugh. He was an avid grill master and enjoyed race cars and racing cars. Joey accepted Christ at an early age and was reared in a Christian home. He attended Brown Chapel in Pinewood, SC and later started attending Bethesda Church of God in Sumter, SC. In addition to his father, Joey was preceded in death by grandparents, Ethel Lee Gibson, Joe Lewis, Willie (Lilia) Arthur Sr., Elder (Virntell) Holmes Sr., Lillian & Billy McClintoc, Harvis (Bro) McGee Sr.; Aunts, Doris Slater, Emma Hewitt; uncles, Mathew Arthur and Charlie Holmes. Joey departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Lexington, SC. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted mother, Carolina Gibson, four children, Jaquez Drayton, Jordan Gibson, Justus and Aunesti Gibson; one sister, Melissa Ray; seven brothers, Deshaun McGee, Darnell Johnson, Harvis Wells, Johnathan (Shante) McGee, Quentez Wells, Marcus (Jasmine) Grinnell, and Freddie Grinnell Jr.; grandparents, Margaret (Billy) McGee; aunts, Emma Lee Williams, Teresa Luckey, Annette (Rickey) Holmes, Richard Dean Brunson, Janette McGee Johnson, Denise McGee York, Sharon McGee, Pamela McGee, Margaret Ann McGee, Lillian (Kennedy) McGee; uncles, Willie Arthur Sr., Elijah Arthur, Michael (Mae) McGee, Kiplin Eric (Tia) Evans, Ulysses Kevin McGee; three special aunts Daisy Calhoun, Doretha Bennett, Joyce Johnson McGee, Vicky Rhames and Lutricia Gray; godmother, Deloris Johnson Brown and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
