Jimmy Lee Wells was born May 23, 1958, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Freeman and Susie Mae Chandler Wells, Sr. Jimmy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the Mt. Sinai AME Church in Lynchburg, South Carolina. Jimmy was educated in the public schools of Sumter County as well as Mayewood High School. Jimmy furthered his education with the Job Corps. Jimmy was employed by Coker Builders of Tuberville, South Carolina as well as Firestone Tire Store in Lake City, South Carolina. Jimmy loved his family and was inspirational in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Jimmy enjoyed working on lawn mowers and helping people. He loved joking around with family and friends as well as talking with people, because he never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by five brothers, Vertell Woods, Bennie Williams, James Lewis Richardson, Sammie Lee Wells and Freeman Wells, Jr. On Saturday, December 6, 2025, God dispatched His angles to go down to Florence, South Carolina to bring His child home and Jimmy answered the call for home. Jimmy leaves to cherish his loving memories, four sons, Ellison Cooper of North Carolina, Anthony Wells of Sumter, South Carolina, Shane Wells (Laquandal) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Jermaine Fulwood of Lynchburg, South Carolina; one daughter, Lalethia Fulwood (Marcus) of Kingstree, South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; three loving sisters, Silver Johnson of Turbeville, South Carolina, Angie (Darnell) Wesley of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Gladys (Willie) Ham of New Zion, South Carolina; a brother, Dutyie Wells of Lynchburg, South Carolina; a long with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
